Huong & Thien: Denver Engagement

We’ve known Huong for awhile now, she has been a bridesmaid at a few of our weddings. The last wedding  we saw her at she couldn’t remember how many weddings she has been a bridesmaid for. But now, its her turn to be the bride.

Houng and Thien met through her cousin and when it came time for Thien to propose he started shopping online. Thien is a big online shopper and Houng gets mad because he won’t step foot into a store. Little did Houng know that one day 3 rings would show up in the mail. They were mailed to her mom’s house so she would have no choice but to open them in front of her entire family.

Houng had no idea what was coming because they were in a big UPS box. As the excitement grew and she started to open the box Thien made her choose her engagement ring. This time it was different she wasn’t mad, she was happy, surprised, excited and emotional. It was the perfect proposal and so fitting of Thien’s personality.

Although we’re already booked on Huong and Thein’s wedding date it didn’t stop them from meeting up for an engagement session. Here are a few highlights from their session. Congratulations, Huong! You are going to make a beautiful bride next month. :)

Kim & Gabe: Engagement

I always wonder what couples whisper in each others ears when they get their photo taken. We tell them to go stand or sit together somewhere and then we wait. We wait for that one moment to happen. I know I talk about it all the time on the blog, but it really is an amazing thing.

Kim and Gabe are quiet and reserved. One might say a little nervous in front of the camera. But let’s be honest aren’t we all. We feel exposed, awkward, and shy. We don’t want to let our guard down, but then in that single moment your significant other whispers something into your ear and all of those fears go away.

I love this session because of that very reason. Gabe would whisper something into Kim’s ear and then it would happen… Wow. Her. Smile. Is. Amazing. We can’t wait for this wedding.

Nicole & Jordan: Denver Engagement

They met on the stairs at the University of Denver. So, it was only fitting for Nicole and Jordan to go back to the very spot where their lives changed. They knew right away they were meant to be together. They always talked about getting married and their plans for the future.

Then Jordan started to joke with Nicole. He would ask her to marry him all the time. It became his thing. They would giggle and laugh and thought nothing of it. Then it happened again one night. This time they were having dinner at Duo Restaurant in the Highlands when Jordan asked again.

Nicole didn’t say anything. She didn’t think Jordan was serious. She wanted to say yes, but then she wondered if she said it would it be another one of Jordan’s jokes? She looked at him for that split second and knew this was the real thing.

She said yes and the rest is history. Next summer Nicole and Jordan will tie the knot.

Lindsey & Sam: Colorado Engagement

Everyone always asks us what we love about portraits. We get out there and boss you around and tell you where we want your head or where to move your shoulders. But really we love those in between moments. The moments when its just the two of you and you forget the camera is there. That moment right before you kiss or someone says something funny. Those are the moments that we love.

We loved the moment when Sam was swinging Lindsey around and she fell. Well… lets be honest…. Sam you dumped her on her butt! Regardless… you can’t help but love this whole session with the two of them. Congratulations Sam and Lindsey… we can’t wait for the wedding.

Happy Monday! :)
