Friday Night Dance Party!

I was a junior in high school when I first heard of the Dave Matthews Band. I sat there in my marketing class talking to a boy about this band that I had fallen in love with. He humored me and told me there were much better songs on the Under the Table and Dreaming album than “Satellite.” The next day he brought the CD to school and my life was changed.

My favorite band is Dave Matthews Band. Always has been. Always will be.

To say that music is a HUGE part of our life is an understatement. It is the reason we started Friday Night Dance Party! We don’t think its lame that we have weekly conversations about DMB. Sometimes it might just be the same story. The story is that Adam and I were at the same concert a million years ago with a million other people at Folsom Field in Boulder. It would be several years before we would meet and bond over that story. We think its awesome that Zoe knows who DMB is and she sings along to all the songs.

When I woke up this morning I was singing “Everyday” in my head. I don’t dare sing along anymore for the fear that I will break every window and mirror in the house. All day I’ve been going over in my head what today’s post would be about. Actually, I have been thinking about it since last week. Before I even started writing this post I found myself listening to DMB for an hour. In our house we just call him “Dave.”  Dave has been there through so much. The good and the bad. The toughest year of my life. Dave always gets me through. Every song reminds me of something, some moment in my life, and every time I hear the song again I make new memories.

Today I’m in love all over again with Dave… and today I wanted to share the one song that has gotten me through the past 8 days. Because really… all you need is, all you want is, all you need is love…

Coffey Anderson

When we first heard about Coffey he was on Nashville Star.  His words spoke to us and we loved that he was not only competing for himself, but he was also competing for his daughter. We followed his journey through the end of the show and knew that good things were in store for him. We loved his style and his music. His music is a combination of country, hip-hop, and pop. So… when we were invited to document his visit to Denver’s Zyxter Church we were thrilled.

As he performed he told us about his journey and what had lead him to music. We were shocked to find out that the uber fabulous Micheal Norwood, whom we LOVE and admire, helped teach Coffey how to play guitar. He rocked the house performing with The Noise Band. Here are a few highlights from Coffey’s performance.

Happy Wednesday!

Laughter…

As Adam and I watched Apolo Ohno become the most decorated U.S. Winter Olympian we caught ourselves yawning. Yawning is contagious. News reports started to surface asking why he yawns.  They would ask “Is he bored?“  Then they found out that Ohno does this all the time. He said it lets more oxygen into his lungs and calms his nerves. It got me thinking about nerves. We all have our own form of calming our nerves and no two people are alike. Many of us laugh out of nervousness. Some of us take a deep breath and find ourselves relaxed. And then there’s Ohno… he yawns.

Laughter, just like yawning, is contagious. When that clock is ticking we find our brides laughing. Laughing can cure any bad day or calm any nervous jitter. We have seen our brides laugh until they cry, or laugh so hard their stomach hurt.

When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried? I did it just a few days ago, laughter is a beautiful thing.
