Eric & Sunshine: Colorado Wedding06.23.10

One of Eric’s favorite childhood memories is Christmas in New York. Eric wanted Sunshine to have a special memories of New York as well and she thought she would experience the excitement of Rockefeller Center and Christmas in New York. What Sunshine didn’t know was that Eric had other plans for them. Although the trip didn’t go as planned proposing under the huge Christmas tree Eric and Sunshine flew back to Albuquerque, New Mexico engaged.

It’s a memory they will never forget. They have documented their love from the very beginning, even during the wedding with Sunshine’s camera (although she had someone else taking photos). Each reception table at the Omni Interlocken Resort & Spa in Broomfield displayed photos and stories from every city they have been too together. Anybody who has had the pleasure of meeting Eric or Sunshine know that once you meet them you areĀ  instantly part of the family. They bring people into their world and make you feel as if you have known them for years.

Both of their families are the same in this way. We walked in to the hotel that morning and knew we were meant to be part of their day. They are amazing people and always have everyone’s best interests in mind. They proved this with a donation to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation in honor of one of the groomsman’s fathers who couldn’t make the trip. We are so blessed to have been a part of Eric and Sunshine’s day.

Without further ado. Eric and Sunshine’s highlights.

Making it our own… our style06.17.10

In December of 2008 I wrote a blog post “You asked… why are you different?” I explained and answered the one question we get at every new client meeting. Its actually very funny because we talked to a client about this very topic at her session over the weekend. She reads all of the top wedding blogs and has noticed that a lot photographer’s work tends to look the same. Yes, we all (photographers) will see a photo and want to recreate it.

But, do you as a photographer make it your own?

I know that when Adam and I walk into a wedding its going to be different from the last one. We know that this day is one of the most important days of our client’s life. We know what we need to do as photographers and how to take risks while staying true to our style. Our style is important to us. We want people to look at a photograph and be able to tell that Adam and Imthiaz Photography took it. We want you to be able to find that one photo that has deeper meaning to it and fall in love with it.

When we walked into Brooke and Seth’s wedding we knew that there was a story behind their rings. They are not your typical rings. They are mismatched, well worn, scratched, and look like they have had many years of love. We had forgotten to get the back story on the wedding day, but we knew that it didn’t matter because we still made their ring shot something special. After we posted their wedding highlights we got one of the most touching emails from Brooke.

This is why we do what we do.

Hi Guys!
I just wanted to write what couldn’t be written all in a comment. I am just floored by the photos. As an aspiring photographer (um…I have no experience but I am going to school for it…we will see what happens ;) ) I just, as I hope I communicated to you, how much I respect your style. Your style is an honest portrayal of the atmosphere, the feeling, and the emotions. To me, it seems the photos speak for themselves, you don’t have to doctor them to much, it seems; you do an amazing job of catching the precise moment a feeling or emotion occurs. That’s what photography is to me. These photos are timeless.

One of my favorite shots is of our rings. I was curious as to how you guys were going to do the ring shot…since they are mismatched and completely different. Somehow you found a way to make them look so complimentary. I just wanted to share though why it’s such a special picture to me. Our rings are hand-me-downs. Family IS important to us. I wear my beloved grandma’s wedding ring who passed away two and a half years ago…and Seth wears his father’s wedding band who died when Seth was ten. So these rings really do show this profound circle of commitment to love, the land (both our families have roots on Nebraska) farms :) , and family generation after generation. The lives and love of these two individuals had an impact on the people Seth and I are today. The love our family, friends and community has shown us taught us (and continues) to teach us how to love truly and completely. Somehow the photograph seemed to show all these things. so thank you.

take care, and I can’t wait to see the rest!!

brooke

Sometimes in our daily life we tend to forget the little things. I had to share something that was so important to Adam and I. We love what we do and we are very lucky to do it. And. To get a note like this just makes us realize that we were meant to document peoples lives.

Happy Thursday!

Makeout Point: Lifestyle Session06.15.10

One of our amazing couples Laura and Anthony are in a band. Laura’s been following our blog since her wedding almost two years ago. When she asked if we could do some new photos of the Makeout Point we were more than happy to help them out. Adam met them downtown for some fun nighttime band photos.

They are a cross between indie rock and punk and will be appearing at the Larimer Lounge on July 3. Make sure you check out the Makeout Point Facebook Fan Page for upcoming appearances and new videos.
