Coffey Anderson02.24.10

When we first heard about Coffey he was on Nashville Star.  His words spoke to us and we loved that he was not only competing for himself, but he was also competing for his daughter. We followed his journey through the end of the show and knew that good things were in store for him. We loved his style and his music. His music is a combination of country, hip-hop, and pop. So… when we were invited to document his visit to Denver’s Zyxter Church we were thrilled.

As he performed he told us about his journey and what had lead him to music. We were shocked to find out that the uber fabulous Micheal Norwood, whom we LOVE and admire, helped teach Coffey how to play guitar. He rocked the house performing with The Noise Band. Here are a few highlights from Coffey’s performance.

Happy Wednesday!

Laughter…02.23.10

As Adam and I watched Apolo Ohno become the most decorated U.S. Winter Olympian we caught ourselves yawning. Yawning is contagious. News reports started to surface asking why he yawns.  They would ask “Is he bored?“  Then they found out that Ohno does this all the time. He said it lets more oxygen into his lungs and calms his nerves. It got me thinking about nerves. We all have our own form of calming our nerves and no two people are alike. Many of us laugh out of nervousness. Some of us take a deep breath and find ourselves relaxed. And then there’s Ohno… he yawns.

Laughter, just like yawning, is contagious. When that clock is ticking we find our brides laughing. Laughing can cure any bad day or calm any nervous jitter. We have seen our brides laugh until they cry, or laugh so hard their stomach hurt.

When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried? I did it just a few days ago, laughter is a beautiful thing.

Friday Night Dance Party!02.19.10

When we saw this video on Brooklyn Bride we had to share it. It inspires love, romance, and the unexpected. Three years in the making Michael and Jackie decided to take a cross country road trip to move back east. One of my favorite songs by David Bowie and Queen Under Pressure is a huge part of this video. You only get one time to propose to the person you love. How would you do it?

Its the fairy tale and the journey that’s surprising. Its the love you see between the two of them that brings you to tears at the end of the video. We are inspired by love and the journey two people take to walk down the aisle. Its videos like this that make us fall in love all over again with our chosen profession. Make sure you check out the video. Not only will you fall in love with this couple, you will fall in love with the unexpected and the possibility.

Celebrating 1/2 Birthdays02.17.10

I’ve never been big on birthdays. In fact, I officially stopped celebrating mine years ago. For me its just like any other day. With Zoe its different. We jump at the chance to celebrate anything… and I mean anything. We even wanted to celebrate the first time she got in trouble at school, because we all know how shy Zoe pretends to be. :)

We were going through some folders, and to our surprise, we came across some family photos that we had every intention of blogging and never got around too. Since its Zoe’s 1/2 birthday this week, we as gloating parents, felt it only necessary to finally share her birthday photos.

Until last year I honestly never knew the power of cake. When I was growing up we had very simple, or homemade birthday cakes. When Adam and I had the opportunity to document the boutique opening for Intricate Icings it all changed for me. Rachael told me why she started baking and how she got into designing some of the most beautiful cakes we have had the opportunity of documenting.

At the last minute we called up Rachael to make a cake for Zoe’s birthday. Adam told her to do something small and simple with a Hello Kitty theme. I’m not really sure exactly what she said to Adam, but I’m sure it was somewhere along the lines of please Adam, do you know who your talking too…

The day of the party Adam sent me a text message of the cake and my jaw hit the floor. He had gone to pick up Zoe’s cake and went to Splitz bowling center with one of the coolest cakes we have seen. Zoe had the perfect day with the exception of falling sleep right before the party and waking up not realizing what was going on. The cake was a hit and Zoe has made it very clear that she only wants cakes by Rachael for all of her future birthdays. Since I never got the chance to thank Rachael for the AMAZING cake she designed for Zoe I’m going to do it now for the whole world to see.

Thank you Rachael, for all you do for Adam and I and the amazing cake you designed for our little girl. You are simply amazing and we are honored to have been able to work with you not only in business, but personally as well.

So, this week we celebrate Zoe and her non-stop talking about her 5th birthday party. Yes, she is already planning it and its months away…

Happy Wednesday! :)
