Chelsea & Gabe: Day After (Part 2 of 2)05.29.09

Chelsea loved the idea of a Day After session from the beginning. She wanted something dirty and non-traditional. After celebrating into the wee hours of the night with family and friends Chelsea and Gabe woke up early the next morning and made their way to Downtown Denver.

Her friends tried to conceive her not to “trash her dress” because it was too pretty. She laughed it off not wanting to explain to them that she was not really going to trash her dress, but it was going to get dirty. Chelsea and Gabe killed their Day After session, here are some highlights…

Chelsea & Gabe at Dear Creek Canyon (Part 1 of 2)05.28.09

With a beautiful May afternoon Chelsea and Gabe began their wedding day preparations. They chose a friend’s beautiful home in Dear Creek Canyon to profess their love with only their closest friends and family in attendance. The weather was beautiful and the Denver Nuggets were playing the L.A. Lakers. Dark clouds were rolling in, but no one really noticed or seemed to mind because Chelsea and Gabe were so happy. Their beautiful and emotional ceremony started one of the most memorable nights for Chelsea, Gabe, and their guests.

As Chelsea and Gabe started their first dance the crackle of thunder echoed throughout the canyon. Right as the D.J. opened up the dance floor the rain started coming down. It was like a scene out of a movie with everyone singing and dancing in the rain. It really didn’t bother any of the guests, not even when the power went out and everyone moved inside. Chelsea and Gabe’s family and friends huddled around candles and flashlights to celebrate the rest of the evening. The Nuggets didn’t win that night, but Chelsea and Gabe did.

Memorial day weekend…that's our girl!05.25.09

This morning Zoe woke up itching to get out of the house. As soon as breakfast was made she ran upstairs to brush her teeth and change her clothes. Adam and I went back and forth wondering what we should do… a Rockies game, a hike, or the Boulder Creek Festival. The weather forecasters said it would rain at noon so we decided to go to Boulder. As soon as we got there it started pouring rain. A half hour later Adam suggested we grab something to eat while waiting out the weather. Half way through our meal the rain let up and Zoe was ready to get out of there. With a potty break and the check paid we started walking back down toward the festival. We could see the rides and hear all the screaming from across the street. Zoe started jumping up and down shouting “daddy look, daddy look, there’s fun over there!”

She rode every ride until we decided she needed a break. Zoe wanted to get her face painted, so we walked around for hours looking for the right booth. Finally we made it back to the kids activity area and the line was 4 booths long. As we patiently waited for Zoe’s turn (and if you know Zoe this was hard for her to do) it was finally time for her face painting session. She jumped out of the chair and ran to Adam glowing. We took a picture and showed it too her and all she could say was “I’m so glad we didn’t get my face painted when it was raining.” We headed back over to the rides so Zoe could ride “one” more ride. The “one” more ride turned into four until she finally said she was ready to go home. She asked if we would take a picture so she could remember her face paint. We don’t blog much about Zoe, but every time we do its a cute photo… this time we decided to share the “real” Zoe. Goofball Houseman.

Happy Monday!
