Kristen: Lifestyle Session03.31.09

Kristen is the younger sister of Erin & Jason. Kristen is involved in pageant circuits and needed new head shots. Adam met her in downtown Boulder for her lifestyle session just a day before all the snow. She wanted to make sure that these head shots were not going to be typical of normal pageant photos, she wanted urban and funky. Adam had so much fun running around Boulder with Kristen and her mom. Here are a few highlights from their session.

Feeding America Campaign03.30.09

In our final week of our Feeding America campaign we raised $22! This week we will be providing 88 meals to families in need. Both of us are extremely grateful and excited we raised $63 which equals 252 meals! Thank you to everyone who reads and comments on our blog. We would not have been able to provide 252 meals to families who really need our help right now without your help. Your kind thoughts and words have been amazing to read the last four weeks. We have great things coming this summer and can not wait to share them with you. Thank you again!

Happy Monday!

Adam & Betsy at Hotel Boulderado03.26.09

Four years ago Adam and Betsy decided to move to Colorado. They wanted to be around the mountains and the foothills where they could hike and ski every weekend.  Adam and Betsy had always talked about getting married, and after eight years of building a life together it was finally time. It was a beautiful day in Boulder and Betsy and Adam went for a hike in Chautauqua park. Adam had the ring in his pocket, in fact, he had the ring for several weeks. He wanted to wait for the perfect time to give the perfect ring to his best friend. Half way through their hike the talk turned to marriage, Adam knew it was now or never. Betsy never thought that she would cry when Adam got down on one knee, but once it happened tears of joy began to flow.

She also cried tears of joy in front of her friends and family when it became official last Saturday. They had an amazing wedding weekend where they did what Adam and Betsy do best…be outside. They had a ski day with all of their guests and made sure that their friends and family had as much fun as they do every weekend skiing.

With friends and family from all over the Midwest they had a beautiful ceremony and reception at the historic Hotel Boulderado. We went to Chautauqua park for their bridal portraits and were blessed with perfect light. Adam and Betsy made sure that every detail had their signature on it…even down to wedding pie in lieu of cake. Their friends and family partied the night away and made sure they stopped by the photo booth provided by A Custom Look Photography.

We had such a blast being apart of your weekend. Thank you so much Adam and Betsy for choosing a.h.p…enjoy the highlights!

Wendy & Josh at Rembrandt Yard03.24.09

Wendy and Josh were married at the super sheik Rembrandt Yard in Boulder this past weekend. As anyone who was in town knows, the weather was perfect. The air was crisp and it smelled like spring.

In front of only close friends and family Wendy and Josh took on many of the Chinese wedding traditions to celebrate. The color red was everywhere and is considered a bold and lucky color. Red also signifies love, prosperity and happiness.

They also had a beautiful tea ceremony, a ritual that introduces them to each others families where they received many blessings and gifts. With a 1,000 handmade cranes Wendy and Josh will have a long marriage full of love, happiness and joy.

They have great style and it showed through every detail of their wedding. They were up for anything when it came time for the portraits. We had such a great time and are very thankful that you choose a.h.p to be apart of your day. Congratulations Wendy and Josh and enjoy the highlights!

Winter 2008 WedComp Competition03.23.09

We love American Photo magazine and we read it all the time. In 2007 they introduced the first ever wedding photographers top 10 list. This list changed the face of the wedding industry and opened our eyes to so many talented photographers. That is when I heard about Bebb Studios. Steve and Jennifer are a husband and wife team from Vancouver and are incredibly talented. I was quickly drawn to their style and their blog is my one of my favorite weekly readings.

When I found out that Jennifer was going to be one of the judges in WedComp, an international wedding image competition, I told Adam that we had to enter. We were extremely excited to have our images judged by the very people that we admire and who have changed the face of wedding photography. Now that the results are official Adam and I can shout from the rooftops that we placed first in the reception category! We have been jumping out of our shoes for the past week wanting to tell everyone that we know, and if you know Adam and I at all, we can’t keep secrets!

It is not only an honor, but it is so humbling that the “who’s who,” of the wedding industry thought that one of our favorite images of 2008 was first place worthy. Lets not forget that we also placed #20 under getting ready. In our opinion, if you place whether it is first or 20th its always worth talking about. In every contest there are thousands of entries, and for judges to be drawn to your images at all is an honor. Adam and I talk all the time about our passion and how blessed we are to be living our dream.

For us, being an award winner means that all of the hard work and sacrifice has paid off. If it were not for the fabulous couples that picked us to be apart of their wedding day, the opportunity to make award winning images would not have been there at all…. So, thank you to all of our amazing brides and grooms!
